Current Volunteer Opportunities (Unpaid Positions)
Nurses needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: Volunteer in hospitals (Pre -medical students are accepted) The medical program is attached to hospitals in Yaounde,Kumba,Buea,Mamfe and in the rural areas of Cameroon. Volunteers on this program need to be registered medical doctors or nurses and students intending to be medical professionals. Volunteers work with local doctors to assist in the daily medical routine - applying dressings, prescribing minor medication, recording patient history, patient consultations, minor surgeries, and counselling patients. Volunteers can work in t areas of maternal health, surgery, laboratories, dental clinics, counseling, and testing.It should be noted that, in Cameroon we have one medical doctor to thousands of patients.Doctors are therefore overworked. In rural areas patients have to walk very long distances in order to see a medical doctor or recieve medical attention. Volunteer profile

HIV/AIDS Community Project needed for
Opportunity Description: Cameroon has been hard-hit by the HIV epidermic with approximately 12per cent infected. Volunteers are urgently required to work in the community, orphanage and neighboring schools, educating and counseling students (at school) and community members about the disease. This program also encourages volunteers to learn and share their knowledge with other volunteers during the training period.

The Cameroon Association for the Protection and Education of the Child (CAPEC) is a non- governmental organization with Reg. No: G39/014/5/252 working in Cameroon. Since its inception in 2002, the organization has been working with children/youths, parents, Government bodies and intergovernmental bodies in the promotion of community’s welfare. It works to identify the need of the child especially the rural child/youths, the underprivileged and the weaker section of the society through participatory approach.

Objectives;
-To protect and make known the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child through education.
-To assist the needy child irrespective of tribe, Origin, sex, religion, in the domain of social welfare.
-To protect the child from sexual exploitation and child labour.
-Assist children in prisons, orphanages, centers for the disabled and street children.
-Organize Youth leadership Training and Youth Exchange Programmes
-Actively take part in the prevention of HIV/AIDS especially in children/youths and women.

CAPEC’s Mission: To promote human values through advocacy and community out-reach programs, Girl Child Enhancement Program (GCEP) basic non-formal/formal education and vocational skills training initiatives for vulnerable children and out-of-school youth in view of building a sustainable community with improved standards of living. The main objective being to enhance their opportunities to realize their full potential and capabilities
